was initially incorporated as Express Airways Nigeria Limited on the 19th of July, 1985, under the Companies and Allied Matters Act of 1968. The Airline was issued with a Certificate of Incorporation RC 73845
The Project was initially conceived in 1982 by Capt Mohammed Joji when he was contacted in the United Kingdom by the Nigeria Authority to carry out a study of the problem of Mail delivery system in Nigeria.
The Company was able to in the past developed Minna- Lagos routes which was successfully operated between 1989 and 1993 but was later abandoned in view of the non-profitable nature of the operations as well as attendant high cost of operations in the aftermath of the devaluation of Naira and deregulation policy of the Government..
The company has been designed by the Federal Government as one of the National Carrier to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Republic of Gabon, Republic of Congo, Republic of Chad, and has been operating the domestic network of Ghana and Equatorial Guinea. Efforts are on to acquire aircraft to develop other routes identified to be profitable e.g. Central Africa Countries etc
